Castanet
The traditional stone farmhouse has been restored during the past ten years providing a very comfortable well equipped holiday home. 2002 saw the addition of a superb pool house with a barbeque and kitchen facilities. The house enjoys a peaceful situation with views over the farmland of the Garonne valley. Villages nearby, Gontaud de Nogaret / Seyches have a first class boulangerie , butchers and general stores, a small market once a week and restaurant & bar. Nearby Marmande has excellent shopping facilities and rail links to Bordeaux and Paris.There is a lake at Casteljalouxwhich has a well developed range of waterside activities including waterslides, wind surfing, canoeing. Tennis, golf, horse riding, visiting the Bastides, museums, chateaux, vineyards and local markets are much enjoyed activities.The Atlantic coast is about one and a half hours away and the Pyrenees are three hours away well worth the trek.
Accommodation:
Is excellent, all on one floor and no steps, with white painted walls and cool tiled floors throughout. The Kitchen has a gas hob, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and ample quantities of cooking equipment, cutlery and crockery. The Living room is within the same large open plan room as the kitchen. There is a large dining table with chairs, pine pew and comfortable armchairs. There is also an U.K. television with satellite receiver and DVD player. There are some board games. Bedroom 1 has a large double bed, pine chest of drawers and wardrobe. The en suite bathroom has shower, W.C., wash basin, and bath. Bedroom 2 has twin beds lovely pine chest of drawers and wardrobe. Bathroom 2 adjoins the second bedroom & has a shower, W.C., washbasin and bath.
Garden and Pool.
Immediately outside the living room is a wide paved terrace with dining table & chairs and sun loungers with a large parasol. Boules, badminton and croquet are provided. A path leads to the super 10 x 5 metre swimming pool, solar heated with shallow side entry steps and a diving board. The excellent pool house provides a large covered area overlooking the pool, there is a dining table and chairs, built in barbeque and fridge/freezer. There are quality sunlongers a canopied swinging chair to relax in around the pool. There is poolside and terrace lighting. The garden is about an acre of mown grass below the house and pool, with some mature trees and shrubs. Castanet provides a very spacious holiday home in a calm, peaceful, private situation yet only 10 minutes from Marmande.
