“La Palmeraie”, the delights of this renovated Maison Bourgeoise become apparent, once through the wrought iron gates: the walled garden, beautifully arranged, encloses you in complete privacy, the palm trees, the pool and sun terrace overlooked, only, by the wide, decorative, first floor balcony. Outside, the hustle & bustle of this small market town (pop 3600) is screened by a wooden gate at the side of the house. The Lot et Garonne a department of rolling countryside, a patchwork of woodland, orchards, vineyards, fields of wheat, maize, sunflowers, tobacco and in the broad river valleys vegetables and salad crops are grown. The town of Miramont offers an excellent weekly market, a range of shops, banks and street cafes. During the summer months there are various fetes, antiques fairs, cycle racing and a Triathlon. At the lake just outside the town a range of sporting activities is available including good tennis courts..
Accommodation.
The French owners have been very successful in maintaining the original features of the house whilst renovating to modern standards of comfort and practicality. The large kitchen, on the ground floor, overlooks the pool. It is well equipped and includes a fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. There are a separate, comfortably furnished, sitting room and a dining room. Also on the ground floor, a shower room with WC. Upstairs there are two double bedrooms plus one room with bunk beds and a very attractive bathroom/WC. From the upstairs hall a french window opens out onto the delightful balcony overlooking the garden, swimming pool and the intriguing & attractive outbuildings of a bygone age.
La Palmeraie is ideal for those who prefer elegant to rustic, urban buzz to country solitude, in short those who are happier in the town than out in the countryside.
